Privacy policy

This policy covers pastrystudyabroad.com, the pastry, chocolate and bakery programmes site operated by BHMS Business & Hotel Management School.

Who is responsible

BHMS Business & Hotel Management School, Guetschstrasse 2-6, 6003 Lucerne, Switzerland, is the data controller for personal data submitted through this site. Contact: admission@bhms.ch.

What we collect

• Application form: your name, email address, optional mobile number, and the programme you are interested in.
• Fit check: the answers you give about your background, interests, education, timing and location, plus your contact details. You can stop at any point; partial answers are kept so you can resume.
• Technical data: the domain you arrived on, and an approximate country derived from your IP address to pre-select your country and dialling code. We do not store your IP address itself.

Statistics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people actually read, so we can improve the site. It records anonymised page views, the country you are browsing from, your device type, and clicks on things like the WhatsApp button or a programme page. It is set to anonymise your IP address, and the advertising features are switched off — we run no ads and we build no advertising audiences.

Whether it runs at all depends on where you are. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, analytics stays off until you press OK on the banner at the bottom of the page. Elsewhere it is on by default, and the same banner lets you switch it off with No thanks. Your choice is stored in your own browser under ga-consent; clearing your browser data brings the banner back so you can choose again.

To be straightforward about it: this site shares one Google Analytics measurement ID with the other BHMS programme microsites, so visits across those sites are counted in one place rather than in separate accounts. Reports are split by which site the visit came from. We do not use it to build a profile of you or to target advertising at you.

Why we use it

Solely to respond to your enquiry, advise you on the programme that fits, and process an application if you choose to make one. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising profiles.

Where it goes

• Submissions are stored in a BHMS-controlled Google Sheet and processed by BHMS admissions staff.
• The site is hosted on Netlify, which processes form submissions on our behalf.
• Google Analytics provides the anonymised visit statistics described above, under the consent rules described there.
• If you choose to contact us via WhatsApp or book a call, those services process your data under their own terms.

How long we keep it

Enquiry and application data is retained while your enquiry is active and for as long as needed to administer an application or enrolment. If you ask us to delete it, we will.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop contacting you — at any time, by emailing admission@bhms.ch. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority; in Switzerland, with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

Cookies

This site does not set advertising cookies. Google Analytics, described above, uses statistics cookies only under the consent rules in that section. The fit check stores your answers in your own browser's local storage so you can resume where you left off, and your analytics choice is kept there under ga-consent; clearing your browser data removes both.
